Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to conduct of Grama Sabha meetings in all over Tamil Nadu State, as per Tamil Nadu Grama Sabha (Quorum and Procedure for Convening and Conducting of meetings) Rules 1998, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Director Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department by order, dated 26.09.2020, within the time limit fixed by this Court.

ORDER

(Order of the Court is made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) Heard Mr.Vijayan Subramanian, learned Counsel for the petitioner and Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader for the respondents.

2. The petitioner seeks directions to conduct Grama Sabha meetings in the State as per the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Grama Sabha (Quorum and Procedure for Convening and conducting of meeting) Rules, 1998 and in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Director, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, by order, dated 26.09.2020.

3. Grama Sabhas are required to be conducted as per the Rules. In case, Grama Sabha is conducted in violation of the Rules, then, the petitioner must take appropriate steps with regard to the said Grama Sabha meeting.
