The prayer of the petitioner is for a mandamus directing the respondents to admit the petitioner in the 3rd respondent college to the B.A., (Political Science) course for the academic year 2024-2025 as per the provisional rank list published by the 3rd respondent.

2. Today, Mr.Ravichander, learned Special Government Pleader would submit, per counter of R3, that the petitioner will be accommodated in the 20% increased seats sanctioned by the Department of Higher Education.

3. Paragraph 8 of the counter affidavit filed by R3 dated 09.07.2024, reads thus:

'8. I state that however, the Presidency College will accommodate the student in the "20% increased seats" sanctioned by the Department of Higher Education, Tamilnadu (G.O.No.178 dated 28-062024) subject to the approval of the University of Madras, with which the Presidency College is affiliated.'

4. Recording the aforesaid contentions in the counter, this Writ Petition is disposed. No costs.
