Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to reimburse the petitioner's medical expenditure of Rs.1,05,235/- as claimed by him under his Application dated 02.09.2020.

O R D E R

The petitioner is a handicapped person and was working as Typist in the Family Court, Thiruvallur. During pandemic, he was affected with Covid-19, hospitalised and had undertaken treatment in Saveetha Medical College Hospital at Thandalam, Kancheepuram District.

2.The petitioner was admitted in the said hospital on 20.06.2020 and he got discharged on 02.07.2020 and had incurred an amount of Rs.1,05,235/- towards medical expenses at the said hospital.

3.The petitioner has claimed reimbursement expenses incurred by the him in the light of G.O. Ms.No.240 dated 05.06.2020 of the Health and Family Welfare (EAP-I) Department.

4. As per clause 3 of the aforesaid Government Order, the Government had authorised Private Medical College Hospitals and Private Hospitals in the State for giving treatment to Covid-19 patients to prevent the spread of this communicable disease. 4.Though the petitioner has settled the bills for reimbursement towards the 1st respondent and he has forwarded the request of the petitioner to the appropriate authority. 5.Considering the fact that the Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to insure all its employees, this court is inclined to dispose this writ petition by directing the 3rd respondent to release the amount payable to the petitioner in terms of policy issued to the petitioner. The 1st and 2nd respondents are directed to co-ordinate with the 3rd respondent in order to clear the aforesaid amount payable to the petitioner. The 3rd respondent is directed to release the amount payable to the petitioner within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order, if petitioner is otherwise eligible for the amount.

6. This Writ Petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
