O R D E R

(The case has been heard through video conference) The petitioner, who apprehends arrest for the alleged offence under Sections 6(4) of Tamil Nadu Scheduled Commodities (Regulation, Distribution by Card System) (TNSC) (RDCS) Order, 1982 r/w Section 7(1)(a)(ii) of Essential Commodities (E.C) Act, 1955, in Crime No.122 of 2019 on the file of the respondent police, seeks anticipatory bail. 2.The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner has illegally transported 350 bags of rice, each containing 50 kilograms, in a Lorry bearing Registration No.KA-01-AD-7155, which is meant for Public Distribution. Hence, the complaint.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. Hence, he prays for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the petitioner is a habitual offender and that there are 15 previous cases of similar in nature, pending against the petitioner. Hence, he vehemently opposed for the grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

5.Taking into account the nature of offence and the previous antecedents of the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed.
