Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a writ of Mandamus or any other writ or order or direction directing the 1st respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.05.2019 sent to the 1st respondent and pass orders to promote the petitioner to the post of Assistant Director of Tourism retrospectively with effect from February 2018 without any delay and pass orders.

O R D E R

The petitioner filed this Writ Petition seeking direction to the 1st respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.05.2019 sent to the 1st respondent and pass orders to promote the petitioner to the post of Assistant Director of Tourism retrospectively with effect from February 2018 without any delay.

2. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner originally joined as Junior Assistant in the Department of Tourism in the year 1983 and thereafter he acquired various https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

promotions and as on date he is working as as Publication Officer in Chennai. He is serving in the present post of Publication Officer for the past 5 years and is due for promotion to the next post since February 2018 i.e., of the Assistant Director of Tourism and in order to avail such a promotion, the petitioner made a representation on 13.05.2019, till date it was not considered by the first respondent. Hence the present Writ Petition.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that it would be suffice to issue direction to the first respondent to consider the representation dated 13.05.2019 submitted by the petitioner and pass order on merits and in accordance with law.

4. Mr. A.N. Thambidurai, Special Government Pleader for the respondents agreed to dispose of the representation dated 13.05.2019 submitted by the petitioner within a reasonable time.

5. Considering the above facts and circumstances and the limited request made by the petitioner, I am inclined to issue direction to the first respondent to consider the representation dated 13.05.2019 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
