ORDER

Heard Mr.P.Saminathan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mrs. P.Rajalakshmi, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents and with their consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for disposal at the admission stage.

2. The petitioner seeks for issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondent to consider his representation dated 14.2.2015. The petitioner claims to be in possession of the land in S.No.58, which admittedly is a Government land classified as "Thopu poromboke". The petitioner claims to be paying B- Memo charges and other taxes to the Revenue Authorities and now the petitioner seeks for grant of patta.

3. When it is not in dispute that the land is a Government land, no writ of mandamus can be issued to compel the Government to grant patta. Hence the relief sought for by the petitioner is misconceived and is rejected. However, this will not prevent the petitioner from pursuing his representation before the authorities. The writ petition is dismissed with the above observation. No costs.
