Writ petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents particularly the District Collector Chennai 600001 and The Tahsildar Mambalam Guindy Tahsildar Office K.K.Nagar Chennai-600078 to grant patta in respect of the petitioner Plot Nos.30,44 and 111 respectively in Survey No.394 an extent of 1530, 560 and 730 sq.ft respectively at Dr.Jahir Hussain Street, MGR Nagar, Chennai - 600 078 forthwith.

first, second and fourth respondents and Mr.R.V.Babu, learned counsel appearing for third respondent. By consent, the writ petitions themselves are taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

2. The petitioners seek for a writ of mandamus directing the respondents particularly the District Collector Chennai 600001 and The Tahsildar Mambalam Guindy Tahsildar Office K.K.Nagar Chennai-600078 to grant patta in respect of the petitioner Plot Nos.30,44 and 111 respectively in Survey No.394 an extent of 1530, 560 and 730 sq.ft respectively at Dr.Jahir Hussain Street, MGR Nagar, Chennai - 600 078 forthwith.

3. According to the petitioner, they are in possession and enjoyment of their respective plots for the past several years. It is their grievance that they have not been granted patta till date. Further, according to them, they have been paying property tax and water tax to the Corporation of Chennai and other revenue charges to the concerned authorities and they have also been given electricity connection. In these circumstances, they have given representations dated 04.09.2014 to the 4th respondent. Till date no order is passed. Hence, they have come forward with these writ petitions.

4. Without going into the merits of the contentions raised by the petitioners, there will be a direction to the 4th respondent to consider the representations of the petitioners to grant patta on merits and in accordance with law, and pass appropriate orders, after affording opportunity of hearing to the parties concerned, within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. Connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
