..Respondents Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking for a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents 2, 6, 7 and 8 to provide adequate police protection for the Shri Ponniamman and Shri Gangaiamman Temple Festival at Idharpuram Village, Vellore District to be held between 22.06.2018 to 24.06.2018.

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents 2, 6, 7 and 8 to provide adequate police protection for the Shri Ponniamman and Shri Gangaiamman Temple Festival at Idharpuram Village, Vellore District to be held between 22.06.2018 to 24.06.2018.
2. Today, Mr.V.Ramasamy, SSI 2123, K.V.Kuppam Police Station, Vellore District, is present before this Court.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that Shri Ponniamman Temple and Shri Gangaimman Temple at Idharpuram Village, Vellore District is the village temple and the villagers are conducting an annual temple festival from 22.06.2018 to 24.06.2018 and that one M.Sivakumar and one Asokan are preventing the conduct of the festival on the premise that they are the hereditary trustees. Whereas, the said temple is the village temple and that the said Sivakumar and Asokan are not the trustees of the temple.
4. Be that as it may, this Court cannot go into the civil rights of the parties in a writ proceeding. However, the seventh respondent police is directed to provide sufficient police bandobusth to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the festival.
With the above direction, this petition is closed. No costs.
