ORDER

Heard Mr.K.Raja, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.V.Jayaprakash Narayanan, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

2. The prayer in the writ petition is for the issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondents herein to forthwith release the vehicle Skoda Car bearing Regn.No.TN-07-BE-0505, which belongs to the petitioner within a time frame.

3. When the matter is taken up today, the learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents by producing a copy of the proceedings issued by the first respondent dated 17.01.2015 addressed to him, submitted that already confiscation order has been passed by the first respondent under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act and the vehicle has been confiscated vide order dated 28.11.2014.

4. In view of the above submission made by the learned Special Government Pleader, this writ petition is dismissed. However, if the petitioner is aggrieved by the said confiscation order, it is open him to challenge the same by way of appeal before the appropriate authority. No costs.
