The relief sought for in the present writ petition is to direct the first respondent to sanction the interest for the belated settlement of terminal benefits, more specifically DCRG amount.
2. The petitioner was working as Associate Professor and Head of the Department in the Department of History in Queen Mary's College and retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation on 30.04.2017.
3. However, there was a delay in settling the DCRG amount to the writ petitioner. The DCRG amount was settled only on 25.10.2019 and the delay occurred was on account of administrative reasons.
4. The learned counsel for the petitioner states that there was no disciplinary proceedings pending against the writ petitioner and the proposals were also submitted without any delay by the petitioner. 2/4
5. This being the factum established, the respondents are directed to settle the admissible interest, as per the rules, on belated payment of DCRG amount and also settle the terminal benefits within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With these directions, the writ petition stands allowed. There shall be no order as to costs.
