Respondents Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of mandamus directing the 2nd respondent to grant renewal of lease of Godown Shop No.2 and 3 of Barathiyar Centenary Memorial Building in favour of the petitioner for the period from 01.04.2015 by considering the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 27.10.2014 within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

ORDER

Heard Mr.G.Shankaran, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.A.S.Thambusamy, learned counsel appearing for the respondents and with their consent, the writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage itself.

2.The petitioner seeks for issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the 2nd respondent to grant renewal of lease of Godown Shop No.2 and 3 of Barathiyar Centenary Memorial Building in favour of the petitioner for the period from 01.04.2015 by considering the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 27.10.2014 within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

3.The petitioner has been granted lease in respect of the Godown Shop Nos.2 and 3 in Bharathiyar Cenetary Memorial Building and the petitioner is continuing to be a lessee. Now the petitioner seeks for renewal beyond 31.03.2015 and in this regard the petitioner has given representations on 27.10.2014 and on 30.10.2014 by placing reliance on G.O.Ms.No.92, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, dated 03.07.2007.

4.Learned counsel appearing for the respondents/Municipality submitted that if the petitioner fall within the scope of the said Government Order, his representations would be considered. 5.In the light of the above, without going into the merits of the petitioner's contentions and representations, there will be a direction to the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representations dated 27.10.2014 and 30.10.2014 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
