Respondent Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of mandamus or any other writ or direction, directing the respondent to consider the petitioner application for grant of Patta dated 28.10.2014 on merits within the time frame that may be fixed by this Hon'ble Court.

ORDER

Heard Mr.S.Arokia Maniraj, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.V.Jayaprakash Narayanan, learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondent and with their consent, the writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage itself. 2.The petitioner seeks for issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondent to consider the petitioner application for grant of Patta dated 28.10.2014.

3.The petitioner seeks for grant of patta in respect of the land in question which is classified as Government Poramboke. The petitioner claims to be in occupation for several decades and therefore, the petitioner seeks patta. Admittedly, the land is a Government land. Furthermore, the petitioner is a society registered under the Societies Registration Act. It is not known as to whether the petitioner can claim for grant of patta in the name of the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

Society since the Government has got certain schemes for grant of patta for houseless poor. Therefore, the prayer sought for by the petitioner, cannot be granted. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed. No costs.

4.However, this will not prevent the petitioner from pursuing his representation dated 28.10.2014 before the authorities concerned, which shall be considered in accordance with law.
