ORDER

The petitioner is before this Court praying for a direction to the 2nd to 4th respondents to restore the service of Metro Water Supply and the Sewerage Service in the petitioners House at No.84, Venkatesa Gramani Street , Chennai-2.

The petitioner would state that there are five tenants in the property and there is a water and sewerage connection and the entire water and sewerage taxes has been paid by the petitioner and there are no arrears. The petitioner has further stated that because of the local political problems, under the guise of repair, the water and sewerage connections have been disconnected. Therefore, there is a stagnation of sewerage water causing health hazards.

If the petitioner is not in arrears of water and sewerage taxes, then the respondents are bound to effect repairs in the connection and allow the petitioner and his tenants to enjoy the water and sewerage connections.

The learned counsel appearing for the respondents on instructions would submit that the charges for the repair works are to be remitted by the petitioner and accordingly, action will be taken by the Officials.

Accordingly, on remittance of the repairing charges by the petitioner, as quantified by the respondents, the respondents shall restore the water and sewerage connection to the petitioner within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
