PRAYER: Writ Petition (Criminal) filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents 1 to 4 in particular 5th Respondent to take appropriate preventive measures by restraining the 6th respondent to conduct the festivals or any other persons claiming under at the Sri Ayyanar Temple, Pudukudi Village, Ariyalur District, which is scheduled on 07.05.2026 on the basis of the petitioners representation dated 29.04.2026 and 02.05.2026 and pass such further or other orders.

O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to respondents 1 to 4, and particularly the 5th Respondent, to take appropriate 2/5

preventive measures to restrain the 6th respondent (or any persons claiming under them) from conducting festivals at the Sri Ayyanar Temple, Pudukudi Village, Ariyalur District, scheduled for 07.05.2026, based on the petitioner's representations dated 29.04.2026 and 02.05.2026.

2. Mr. A. Damodaran, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, submits that a dispute exists between the petitioner's faction and the 6th respondent's faction, and a peace committee meeting has already been convened to address the issue.

3. In view of the submissions made, the 3rd respondent is directed to conduct a peace committee meeting today at 05.00.p.m., between the petitioner's faction and 6th respondent faction. The 3rd respondent shall ensure the peaceful conduct of the temple festival and facilitate the participation of all parties involved. It is made clear that none of the parties shall claim first honour during the conduct of the festival.

4. With the above directions, this Writ Petition (Criminal) is disposed of. No costs.
