O R D E R
The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 23.04.2025 for the alleged offences punishable under Sections 409, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 r/w 34 IPC in Crime No.65 of 2025, on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner, who is a senior manager of the Indian Bank, Santhome Branch, Chennai had sanctioned loans by violating the lending guidelines and carried out many unauthorized transactions in collusion with one P.Jai Singh, clerk of the bank and they misappropriated funds from the customers' savings account.

It is the further case of the prosecution that the petitioner and other accused misused 146.500 grams of gold pledged by a customer, who had repaid the loan, but was unable to retrieve the jewellary, due to personal reasons and that the fraudulent activities committed by the petitioner and other accused resulted in a total financial loss of Rs.23,48,321/- to both the customers as well as the bank.
4. The petitioner, who happens to be the Manager, is the custodian of the bank. Every customer, who comes to the bank had obtained loan and deposited their money with the bonafide expectations that the bank will protect their interest and save their money in the safe custody. Whereas, the allegation against the petitioner is that, he, in collusion with the other 2/4
accused had misappropriated the deposited amounts and misused the jewellery pledged by the customers of the bank. Therefore, considering the facts and circumstances of the case and also the serious nature of offence, this court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
5. Accordingly, this petition is dismissed.
