The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Section 420 IPC and Section7(3) of Lotteries Regulation Act, 1998 in Crime No.168 of 2022, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner along with another was found in illegal possession of Kerala Lottery Tickets, which was prohibited by Tamil Nadu State Government. Hence, the complaint.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner denied the allegation and he is ready and willing to abide by any stringent conditions that may be imposed on him. Hence, he prays for anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 1/3

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the petitioner was having illegal possession of Kerala lottery tickets, He also submitted that there are 14 previous cases against the petitioner, which are similar in nature. Hence, he vehemently opposed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

5. Considering the nature of offence committed by the petitioner, and taking note of the fact that there are 14 previous cases as against the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

6. Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 22.06.2022 vv 2/3
