ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the 1st respondent to dispose of the representation dated 22.10.2020 submitted by the petitioner, seeking to delete the wrong entry in the Metro Water Connection records and Metro Water Tax records maintained by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (in short 'CMWSSB') with respect to the petitioners' residential house.

2. The petitioners sought for restoration of original names in the assessment records maintained by the 1st respondent. The 1st respondent is maintaining the assessment records of the Greater Chennai Corporation to levy and collect water tax and sewerage water charge from the assessee. The subject premises bearing Old No.155-156, New No.520, TTK Road, Alwarpet, Chennai - 600 018 stands in the names of the respondents 2 and 3 herein. Both the records were maintained by the CMWSSB. That apart there is a dispute between the petitioners and the respondents 3 and 4 herein in respect of the subject matter.Inspite of approaching the Civil Court, the petitioners simply submitted a representation to change the names ownership of the subject property in the records maintained by the CMWSSB.

3. In so far as the 1st respondent is concerned, they are only updating the

assessment details as per the Regulation 22 (1) to (4) of the CMWSSB Water tax and Water and Sewerage Service Charges Regulation, 1991. Therefore, if the petitioners are declared as owners of the subject property, then only they can approach the 1st respondent to change their name in the records.

4. In view of the above, the prayer as such sought in the present Writ Petition cannot be granted. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. No costs.
