This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the 1st respondent to dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 28.03.2024 within the time stipulated by this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 4 and perused the materials placed on record.

According to the petitioner, she executed a settlement deed dated 14.12.2012 in favour of her daughter/5th respondent, settling her property to an extent of 8.36 acres situated in Kalipalayam Village, Avinasi Taluk, retaining life interest with her. However, without maintaining the petitioner, the 5th respondent sold the said property to the respondents 6 and 7 in the year 2022. Thereafter, the respondents 6 and 7 sold the said property to the 2/4
8th respondent. In this regard, the petitioner sent a representation dated 28.03.2024, requesting the respondents 1 to 4 to cancel her settlement deed dated 14.12.2012 and the subsequent documents executed in respect of the subject property and also to take action against them. Since the respondents have not passed any orders on the said representation, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition.

At the outset, this Court is of the view that the registering authority has no power to cancel a document, except that document falls within the ambit of Section 22-A and 22-B of the Registration Act, 1908. In such view of the matter, a mere direction cannot serve any purpose. It is for the petitioner to approach the appropriate forum under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
With the above observation, this writ petition stands dismissed. No costs.
