This Criminal Original Petition has been filed by the petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 08.06.2024, seeking bail in Crime No.166 of 2024 for the alleged offences punishable under Sections 4(1)(aaa) r/w 4(1-A) of Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act.

2. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been implicated in this case only for the statistical purpose. He also submitted that the petitioner is no way connected with the alleged offence and he is in custody from 08.06.2024. Hence, he prayed for bail stating that the petitioner is ready to abide by any stringent conditions that may be imposed by this Court.

3. Learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police submitted that the petitioner/accused was found to be in illegal possession of 800 litres of pondy poisonous arrack. He also submitted that twelve previous cases of similar nature are pending against the petitioner. 4. Taking into consideration the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) that the investigation is still pending and also considering the antecedents of the petitioner/accused, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
