O R D E R

Heard Mr.Mukund R.Pandiyan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Ms.P.Rajalakshmi, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent. With the consent of either side, Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage.

2. The petitioner seeks for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the the respondent to grant permission to conduct a cultural program scheduled to be held on 30.03.2015 near Sree Mariamman and Omshakthi Temple by considering his representation dated 20.03.2015.

3. The petitioner proposes to conduct a cultural programme on the eve of the temple festival and now seeks for positive direction to the respondent police to grant permission. In my view, such a relief cannot be granted, since, it is for the respondent police to regulate the law and order situation in the locality. Hence, the prayer sought for by the petitioner is rejected. However, this will not prevent the petitioner from pursuing his representation before the respondent police.

With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
