Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent Electricity Department to provide independent electricity connection to the petitioner's premises in Ground Floor No.7/2 Gulam Abbas Alikhan, 6th Street, Thousand Lights, Chennai-600 006.

ORDER

The relief sought for in this writ petition is for a direction to direct the respondent Electricity Department to provide independent electricity connection to the petitioner's premises in Ground Floor No.7/2 Gulam Abbas Alikhan, 6th Street, Thousand Lights, Chennai-600 006.

2. The grievance of the writ petitioner is that on account of the family disputes between himself and his sons, the electricity connection in a portion where he resides has not been granted.

3. The learned counsel, appearing on behalf of the writ petitioner, states that the writ petitioner has sent a representation for an independent electricity connection and the same is to be considered in accordance with law. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

4. The learned counsel, appearing on behalf of the respondent, states that no application has been submitted by the writ petitioner in the prescribed format along with the required documents. In the event of submitting necessary application and the documents, the case of the writ petitioner will be considered in accordance with the provisions of the Electricity Rules and the Code.

5. In this regard, the writ petitioner is directed to submit an application in the prescribed format along with all necessary documents to the respondent and in the event of receiving any such appropriate application from the writ petitioner, the respondent is directed to consider the same and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
