Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct respondents 2 to 8 herein to issue assignment patta to the Tharisu land vide Survey No.211/1 extent about 1.44.5 acres situated in Rettanai West Village, Rettanai Firka, Tindivanam Taluk, Villupura District, as per the order of direction issued by the National Human Rights Commission represented by the Assistant Registrar (Law Division) the 1st respondent herein dated 31.08.2012 in case No.1017/22/42/2012.

O R D E R

From the records produced, it is seen that the petitioner has been seeking to grant of assignment patta for the land in question and the Government has also agreed before the National Human Rights Commission to grant patta to the petitioner in accordance with law. Since the undertaking given before the National Human Rights Commission has not been complied with, the petitioner has come forward with the present writ petition. 2.The fifth respondent Tahsildar has filed a counter wherein it is stated that there are objections from the village people

for issuance of patta to the land in question in favour of the petitioner. It is for the Authority to consider the objections and pass appropriate orders on the representation of the petitioner.

3.In view of the above, there will be a direction to the District Collector, Villupuram, namely, the second respondent to dispose of the claim of the petitioner for grant of patta in accordance with the order passed by the National Human Rights Commission in accordance with law. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4.In the result, the writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No order as to costs.
