ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 6 to take appropriate action on the representation of the petitioner dated 19/05/2025 and direct the 4th respondent not to give first honour to the 7th respondent or his men or relatives in the Vaigasi month Kudamulukku festival scheduled to be conducted on 06/06/2025 in the temple namely the Arulmighu Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple and Arulmighu Maha Sakthi Mariamman Temple located in Enam Agrahram Village, Veppanthattai Taluk, Page No.3/9

Peramblur District and further direction to implement the proceedings of the Superintendent of Police/2nd respondent vide Na.Ka.No.207/SP / Camp / PLR /2022 dated 02/08/2022.

2. The petitioner claims to be the permanent resident of South Street, Enam Agraharam Village, Veppanthattai circle, Perambalur District. According to him, Arulmighu Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple and Arulmighu Maha Sakthi Mariamman Temple located in Enam Agraharam Village are under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Perambalur District.

According to the petitioner, he gave a representation on 19.05.2022 to the revenue officials and also the police officials concerned, requesting them not to give any preference or special honour to the 7th respondent and also requesting them to conduct a peace committee meeting in the presence of the Tahsildar and Administrative Officer and other villagers for conducting the festival in a peaceful manner and not to Page No.4/9

provide honour to anyone, including the 7th respondent. The grievance of the petitioner is that his representation has not evoked any response till date, and hence, this writ petition.

4. Heard both sides.

5. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that everyone should be treated equally before the God Almighty, and there should not be any preferential treatment or special honour. According to the learned counsel, the issue is covered by order dated 15.06.2022 made in the case of R.Sethupathi v. The District collector, Sivagangai District and others [W.P.(MD) No.11770 of 2022]. The copy of the order made in the above said writ petition is annexed in the typed set of papers.

6. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the respondents 1 , 3 and 5 an the learned Government Advocate for HR & CE would also, on instructions, fairly submit that everyone will be Page No.5/9

treated as equal before the God Almighty, and there would be granted any preferential treatment or special honour.

Considering the submissions made on either side and also considering the fact that the issue raised in this writ petition is already covered by the order of the Madurai Bench of this Court (cited above), this court is inclined to dispose of writ petition in terms of the order dated 15.06.2022 made in W.P.(MD) No.11770 of 2022.

8. This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. The respondents 1 to 6 shall over see that the festival is conducted in a peaceful manner treating everyone as equal. The authorities concerned are at liberty to conduct peace committee if necessary. No costs.
