Respondent PRAYER: Writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Certiorari to call for the records of the respondent pertains to the impugned order of the petitioner's promotion bearing reference No.45955/C1/2016 dated 01.08.2017 and quash the same as far as the condition to pass department test in economic and statics subject within one year from the date of promotion to the post of Statistical Inspector in the statistical Department.

ORDER

This writ petition has been filed against the proceedings No.45955/C1/2016 dated 01.08.2017, wherein, the petitioner was promoted as Statistical Inspector subject to condition that he should pass departmental test within one year.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent. 3.The learned Additional Government Pleader, on instructions, submits that as per the decision of the Government, at present, it is not necessary to qualify the departmental examination for the post of Statistical Inspector. He also placed a copy of the order dated 24.10.2024 in W.P.No.7405 of 2020 (S.Ramamoorthy Vs. The Commissioner, Department of Economics and Statistics, DMS Compound, Teynampet, Chennai - 6, Tamil Nadu) passed by the learned Single Judge of this Court is an identical matter. 4.Considering the submission of the learned Additional Government Pleader and by following the order of this Court stated supra, it is clear that for 2/4

promotion to the post of Statistical Inspector, it is not necessary to qualify the departmental examination as per the decision of the Government. 5.In view of the above, this writ petition is allowed and the order impugned in this writ petition is hereby set aside. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
