The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner is the joint owner of the property situated at Old No.15, New No.28, United India Colony, I Main Road, Kodambakkam, Chennai. The petitioner is running a hotel in the name and style of "Cine City" in the aforesaid premises. It is submitted that as against the revision of Property Tax, earlier, the petitioner has paid Rs.97,000/- (Rupees Ninety Seven Thousand only) and subsequently it was revised to Rs.3,69,460/- (Rupees Three Lakhs Sixty Nine Thousand Four Hundred and Sixty only). Challenging the revision of Property Tax, the petitioner had filed a Writ Petition in W.P.No.9159 of 2019, and this Court, by order dated 29.03.2019, issued direction to the respondents to pass appropriate orders after hearing petitioner's objections. Pursuant to that, the present impugned order is passed and the property tax is revised from Rs.3,69,460/- to Rs.3,31,035/- and reduced Rs.35,000/- and directed the petitioner to pay the balance amount.
2. As on date, the total demand amount is Rs.23,46,573/-, out of which the petitioner has already paid Rs.2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs only). Therefore, considering the fact that prima facie case is made out by the petitioner, interim stay is granted on condition that the petitioner is directed to pay Rs.15,00,000/- (Rupees 1/3
Fifteen Lakhs only) within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
