O R D E R

This petition has been filed to quash the FIR in Crime No.179/2014 on the file of Judicial Magistrate, Alandur, Chennai.

2. Heard the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the State. There is no representation for the petitioner.

3. On the complaint lodged by Mr.Sivathanu, the Immigration Officer, Inspector of Police, S2 Airport Police Station registered a case in crime No.179 of 2014 on 04.11.2014 under Sections 12(i)(b) of the Passport Act r/w 420, 468, 471 IPC against the petitioner herein.

4. The allegations in the FIR is that the seal in the passport of the petitioner is a bogus one. On the registration of the FIR, the case has been transferred to the file of the Central Crime Branch for further investigation. Challenging the FIR, the petitioner has filed the present petition.

5. When the matter was taken up for hearing, Mrs.K.Shoba Rani, Sub Inspector of Police, Central Crime Branch, Vepery, Chennai-7, Fake Passport Team is present before this Court.

6. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor produced the case diary, wherein it is found that the investigation has been conducted by the Central Crime Branch and the police have come to the conclusion that the ECNR seal in the passport is not a bogus one and hence they closed the case as "mistake of fact".

7. Under such circumstances, the Sub Inspector of Police, Central Crime Branch, Vepery, Chennai-7, Fake Passport Team is directed to file closure report before the jurisdictional Court within four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
