Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 3

to take further action on the Notice No. DN/61/011/2024 dated 18.07.2024 issued to the 4th respondent to demolish the unauthorized construction put up at Door No.57/1, Police Commissioner Office Road, Egmore, Chennai 600 008.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by R.SUBRAMANIAN, J.) The prayer in the writ petition is for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing respondent Nos.1 to 3 to take further action on the notice dated 18.07.2024 issued to respondent No.4 to remove the unauthorized construction.

2. Pursuant to the notice issued by this Court, the jurisdictional Assistant Engineer, Greater Chennai Corporation, has filed a status report, wherein it is stated that a notice has been issued seeking removal of unauthorized development carried out without planning

permission on 16.06.2025 to respondent No.4. Thirty days' time has been granted to respondent No.4. The status report also states further action will be pursued in terms of the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act, 1971.

3. In view of the said status report, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the Greater Chennai Corporation to pursue the action taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable time.
