This Writ petition has been filed under article 226 of the Constitution to issue writ of mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to extend the police protection to the petitioner to safeguard the life and limb based on my representation dated 28.08.2021 in the light of the order passed in W.P.No.1048 of 2021 dated 04.03.2021.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the first respondent to extend police protection to the petitioner.

2. The petitioner, earlier, moved this Court in W.P.No.1048 of 2021, and this Court, after considering the potential life threat faced by the petitioner, granted protection for a period of 3 months. Now, the 3 months have expired. In view of the same, the petitioner had filed the present Writ petition.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the police protection, which was granted earlier, is still in existence and the respondent police are continuing with the earlier arrangement of providing protection. He further submitted that since it is a communal clash between two groups and the situation is still volatile, police picketing is continuing and these arrangements will be continued till the normalcy returns.
