PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to finalize the seniority in the post of Sub Inspector of Police selected in the year 2006 based on the marks obtained by them in the final examination of Police Training College as required under Rule 25 of Special Rules for Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service and consequently to consider the petitioners for conversion as well as promotion, based on the representation submitted by the petitioners dated 24.11.2017, within a time frame as fixed by this Court.

The present Writ Petition is heard through Video Conferencing today.

2. Heard Mr.G.Sankaran, learned counsel for the petitioners and Mr.K.Tippusultan, learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondents.

3. The grievance of the petitioners are that their seniority in the post of Sub Inspector of Police for the year 2006 has not been finalised as required under Rule 25 of Special Rules for Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service.

4. Today when the matter was called on, the learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that pending the Writ Petition, the seniority of the petitioners have been finalised. However, he would submit that after finalisation of the petitioners' seniority, salary benefits have not been extended to them. In this connection, he would submit that liberty may be granted to the petitioners to approach the concerned authority, seeking for such salary benefits.

5. Recording the submission of the learned counsel for the petitioners, the Writ Petition stands closed with liberty to the petitioners to approach the concerned authority seeking for salary benefits, if any.

Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. There shall be no orders as to costs.
