O R D E R

The relief sought for in the present writ petition is to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's application dated 31.12.2015 and to sanction educational loan to petitioner Son B.Rajesh within a stipulated period.

2. The petitioner states that he is a farmer and cultivating his own lands at Paupparapatty. The petitioner's son B.Rajesh has joined under graduation course viz., B.Sc. Optometry, at Salem Vinayaga Mission University during the academic year 2015-2016.

3. It is contended that the son of the petitioner B.Rajesh, will be the first graduate in his entire family and the tuition fees and other expenses would cost about a sum of Rs.2 lakhs for the completion of the said graduation course. Thus, the petitioner submitted an application seeking education loan from the respondents bank viz., Indian Bank.

4. The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents brought to the notice of this Court that loan has not been sanctioned in favour of the petitioner. The fact remains that the writ petition was filed 2/4

in the year 2016 and the son of the petitioner was admitted in the Under Graduation course during the Academic year 2015-16.

5. Now, five academic years lapsed. Therefore, the application submitted by the petitioner for seeking educational loan on 31.12.2015 lost its relevance as the son of the petitioner would have completed the course by this time. If at all the son of the petitioner is continuing his higher education or otherwise, the son of the petitioner is at liberty to file a fresh application seeking educational loan and in the event of submitting any such application, the respondents shall consider the same on merits and in accordance with law.

6. With these observations, the writ petition stands disposed of. No Costs.
