Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the Respondents to select and appoint the petitioner as Junior Training Officer pursuant to his provisional selection (Roll No.2210054) for direct recruitment for the year 2014-15. The relief sought for in the present writ petition is for a direction to direct the respondents to select and appoint the petitioner as Junior Training Officer pursuant to his provisional selection(Roll No.2210054) for direct recruitment for the year 2014-15.

2.Appointment can never be claimed as a matter of right. Mere participation in the process of interview would not confer any right on the candidate to seek a selection or appointment. 3.Admittedly, the writ petitioner had participated in the process of selection and he was provisionally selected. However, the learned counsel for the writ petitioner states that the interview had already been cancelled and selection was not continued.

4.This being the factum, this Court is of an opinion that the writ petitioner cannot seek the relief of selection and appointment made during the year 2014-2015. When the selection itself was cancelled by the competent authority, which is an administrative decision and the same cannot be questioned by the candidate, who participated in the process of selection. 5.This being the factum of the case, the relief as such sought for in the present writ petition cannot be granted and accordingly, the writ petition stands dismissed. However, there shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
