This Contempt Petition has been filed to punish the respondent alleging that the respondent willfully disobeyed the order dated 26.06.2020 passed by this Court in W.P.No.8431 of 2020.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this Court directed the respondent to register the F.I.R.No.3057 of 2020 as directed by the learned Jurisdictional Magistrate, Chengalpet by an order dated 06.03.2020 in CMP.No.2322 of 2020 forthwith and file a final report within a period of twelve weeks before the jurisdictional Magistrate concerned. Accordingly, the respondent registered the FIR in crime No.3057 of 2020 for the offence under Sections 427, 447, 461 and 506 (ii) of IPC. Thereafter, the respondent without even conducting any enquiry simply putting the FIR in cool storage did not comply the order passed by this Court.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) submitted that after registration of FIR in Crime No.3057 of 2020 for the offence under Sections 427, 447, 461 and 506(ii) of IPC, as directed by this Court, the respondent now completed the entire investigation and likely to file the final report. The respondent could not able to complete the investigation and file a final report within the time due to the Covid-19 Pandemic circumstances.
4. Considering the above submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), this Contempt Petition is closed. However, the respondent is directed to file a 2/3
final report before the jurisdictional Magistrate within a period of two weeks from today.
