The instant Writ Petition has been filed with a prayer for issuing a mandamus to direct the respondent to conclude the disciplinary proceedings pending against her in proceedings No.41729/V2/2010 and proceedings No.29093/V3/2013 initiated against the petitioner in light of her representations dated 29.01.2024, 20.06.2024, 26.08.2024, 21.12.2024 and 21.03.2025 and pass final orders within a reasonable time frame fixed by this Court.

The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner was suspended on 09.08.2010 and thereafter, she was not permitted to retire from service in view of the pendency of the criminal case. He would further submit that the petitioner was served with a charge memorandum on 04.10.2012. Meanwhile, a criminal case was registered against her, and subsequently, it was taken on file before the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thiruvarur in Spl.C.C.No.1 of 2014. It is the further submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner that in the above criminal case, she was acquitted. Despite the acquittal, the respondent is not proceeding with the two disciplinary proceedings pending against her. He 2/5
also submits that the petitioner is now aged about 70 years and that, in view of the pendency of the disciplinary proceedings, she has not been provided with terminal benefits.

Per contra, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent would fairly submit that for the early disposal of the disciplinary proceedings, the cooperation of the Vigilance and AntiCorruption Department of Nagapattinam is also essential. He would further submit that they would dispose of the disciplinary proceedings within a reasonable time.
4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

In view of the above submission, without going to the merits of this Writ Petition, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondent to complete the disciplinary proceedings against the petitioner, on its own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above observations, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
