This writ petition has been seeking a direction to consider the petitioner's representation dated 12.05.2014 for police protection.
2. According to the petitioner, his brother Kovi. Sampath has been murdered on 22.08.2004 by a rival group. The petitioner is one of the main witness in the above murder case and till date there is a threat to his life from the rival group. In the above circumstances, the petitioner has submitted his application before the second respondent seeking police protection to him. But, that application was not considered. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.
3. Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the respondents, on instructions, https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
would submit that the occurrence took place in the year 2004 and thereafter, no occurrence has been taken place. Subsequently, the petitioner was also granted licence for possessing a revolver and as on date, there is no threat to the life of the petitioner.
4. Considering the fact that since the representation given by the petitioner is still pending with the second respondent, without going into the merits of the case, the second respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation and pass suitable orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
