ORDER

By consent, the main writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

The petitioner has come up with the present writ petition for a mandamus, directing the respondents to issue new family card to him as per the application submitted on 12.10.2010 in respect of application No.368/2010 and based on his representation dated 16.6.2016 and pass orders on the same within a reasonable time to be fixed by this Court.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that he is residing at West Kattukottai, Melnariyappur Village and Post, Chinnasalem Taluk, https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

Villupuram District. He made an application to the second respondent on 12.10.2010 to issue new family card to him. Since the second respondent did not pass any orders on his application, he sent a representation dated 16.6.2016 to the respondents to issue new family card to him. Since the same was also not considered, left with no other alternative, the petitioner has come up with the present writ petition for the relief set out earlier.

4. I have heard the learned Special Government Pleader, who has taken notice on behalf of the respondents.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the submissions made on either side, this Court directs the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 16.6.2016 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, with regard to issuance of new family card, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion with regard to the merits of the claim made by the petitioner and it is for the respondents to consider the claim of the petitioner strictly on merits and in accordance with law. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
