A case has been registered in the year 2009 for investigation. On completion of investigation initially taken on file by the V Metropolitan 1/4
Magistrate Court, Egmore, Chennai in C.C.No.4137 of 2010 and thereafter, transferred to Mahila Court and renumbered as C.C.No.6 of 2017. Meanwhile, the case against one of the accused was quashed and thereafter, trial not yet commenced till date. The remaining sole accused is before this Court for directing the Magistrate to expedite the trial within time frame.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police states that the case was pending due to stay till February 2021 and thereafter, service was pending. After issuance of NBW against this petitioner, the petitioner was secured. Charges were framed on 24.11.2022 and the matter was posted for examination of witnesses.

Taking note of the fact that the delay in commencing the trial was due to the stay obtained by one of the accused and non appearance of the present petitioner. However, taking note of the fact that the matter is pending for a long time to adjudicate on the alleged offence committed in the year 2009. The Additional Mahila Court, Egmore is directed to give priority to this case and complete the trial as 2/4
expeditiously as possible.

With the above observation, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
