The instant writ petition has been filed challenging the impugned order imposing punishment against the petitioner.

2. It is the submission of the learned Senior Counsel appearing for the petitioner that the mercy petition dated 03.01.2022 is also pending before the fourth respondent.

3. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would fairly submit that they would consider the mercy petition within a 2/5

reasonable time.

4. Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

5. In view of the above submission, instead of going into the merits of the present writ petition, it is appropriate to direct the fourth respondent to consider the mercy petition on its own merits and in accordance with law within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
