Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of mandamus to direct the first respondent to conduct the Annamalai University Staff Association election scheduled to be held on 27.06.2018 at Annamalai Nagar in all the six zones of the Annamalai University viz., Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Tiruvannamalai and Erode.

O R D E R

By way of filing this writ petition, the petitioner seeks a direction to the first respondent / the District Registrar of Societies, Cuddalore, to conduct the Annamalai University Staff Association election at Annamalai Nagar in all the six zones of the Annamalai University viz., Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Tiruvannamalai and Erode.

2. When the matter is taken up, learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this issue also can be left open to the Chief Election Officer so appointed by this Court in W.P.No.16091 of 2018, dated 17.07.2018, to decide the issue. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

3. In view of the said submission, Mr.C.Raghavan, former Principal District Judge of Madurai District, is hereby directed to consider the claim made in this writ petition also on merits and in accordance with law. With this direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No Costs. WMP.No.18760 of 2018 is closed.
