Mr.S.J. Mohamed Sathik

ORDER

Heard both sides.

2.

One Mr. Bhaskaran Nair Babu and his wife Rajeswari are the adoptive parents of the writ petitioner. The biological parents of the writ petitioner had executed a Deed of Adoption dated 24.06.2013 in favour of petitioner's adoptive parents. The adoptive parents had also filed an Adoption O.P. No. 182 of 2013 before the Principal District Judge, Chengalpattu and it was allowed by order dated 13.02.2014. The writ petitioner is now with her adoptive parents and she is in her X standard. 3.

As the writ petitioner is due to appear for the Central Board Examination in the forthcoming academic year, for the purpose of registration for the said examination, the birth certificate of the writ petitioner was verified and it was found that the names of the biological parents had been mentioned. Hence, the school authorities had requested the adoptive parents to take necessary steps to incorporate their names in the place of the names of biological parents of the writ petitioner.

4.

Therefore, the writ petitioner's adoptive father approached the local body with the aforesaid request, i.e., to substitute his name and his 2\4

wife's name in the place of the names of the biological parents of the writ petitioner in the birth certificate, along with relevant supporting documents. Since the application was not processed, the present writ petition has been filed. 5.

Though the learned counsel for the respondent would state the local body would consider the application of the petitioner's father for necessary correction in the birth certificate within a period of eight weeks, considering the interest of the writ petitioner and the materials placed before me, I direct the respondent herein to immediately issue revised birth certificate in favour of the writ petitioner by incorporating the names of her adoptive parents in the place of names of her biological parents. This shall be done immediately and without any delay.

6.

With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
