ORDER
By consent of learned counsel on both sides, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. In view of the order that this Court proposes to pass and also the limited relief that is sought to be granted, notice to the Respondents 4 and 5 is dispensed with.
2. The present writ petition is filed praying for a writ of mandamus to direct the 1st respondent to pass necessary orders in respect of petitioner's application dated 02.05.2025 within a time to be prescribed by this Court.
3. It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner is the owner of the land measuring 0.49.5 hectares in Merattur Village, Thiruvallur District. While seeking transfer of patta in his name, the petitioner came to know that patta stood in the names of some third parties viz., Varadhan and Appavu, instead of the original owner Mr.Swaminathan, who is the vendor. Petitioner made an application to 3rd respondent on 21.12.2015 seeking to cancel the patta standing in the name of third party. On enquiry, the 3rd respondent /Tahsildar found that entry in patta in the name of third party was erroneous, recommended the 2nd respondent to cancel patta granted in favour of third party. In turn, the 2nd respondent referred the matter to 1st respondent for enquiry. It 2/5
is the grievance of the petitioner that though enquiry was conducted on his application seeking to cancel the patta wrongly granted in the names of third party, till date, no order was passed. Hence, the petitioner made a representation dated 02.05.2025 seeking to dispose of his application at the earliest.

At the outset, it was submitted by the learned Special Government Pleader for respondents that the representation dated 02.05.2025, made by petitioner would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed after hearing the petitioners and respondents 4 and 5 and any other interested parties within a time frame fixed by this Court, which was agreed to by the learned counsel for petitioner.

In view of the same, taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the limited relief sought for in this Writ Petition, there shall be a direction to the 1st respondent to consider the representation dated 02.05.2025 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, after affording reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, respondents 4 and 5 and any other interested persons/stake holders, including rival claimants, if any, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any 3/5
views with regard to the merits of the representation and it is open to the concerned respondent to consider the representation on its own merits and in accordance with law.
