Ms.Sindhuza, learned counsel on behalf of Mr.L.Jai Venkatesh, learned Standing Counsel accepts notice for the respondents and is armed with instructions to enable a final disposal of this Writ Petition, even at the stage of admission.

2. The petitioner seeks a mandamus directing the Executive Engineer, Tangedco/R1 to consider her representation dated 05.06.2024 seeking change of name for electricity connection.

3. Ms.Sindhuza would have no objection in principle to consideration of the plea of the petitioner except that the procedure as set out under the extant Rules and Regulations has not been followed. This is for the reason that the petitioner has only made a representation seeking change of name, whereas, according to the respondents, an application should be filed on line in terms of Regulation 5(7) of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Supply Code.

4. Hence, there would be no purpose in issuing mandamus as prayed for. Instead, the petitioner, now being apprised of the situation through the learned counsel, may file a suitable application. Once such an application is filed the same will be disposed by the respondents in accordance with law, expeditiously.
