PRAYER: Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of mandamus directing the third and fourth respondents to add the name of the petitioner in the seniority list considering his date of attaining the 10th standard qualification inter alia and give promotion to the post of Road Inspector Grade II on the basis of his seniority.

For Petitioner in all WP's : Mr.T.Raghavan For Respondents in all WP's : Mr.S.Silambanan, Additional Advocate General Assisted by Mr.Yogesh Kannadasan, Special Government Pleader COMMON ORDER These writ petitions have been filed for direction directing the third and fourth respondents to add the name of the petitioners in the seniority list considering their date of attaining the 10th standard qualification inter alia and give promotion to the post of Road Inspector Grade II on the basis of their respective seniority. 2/6

Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side. 3.

The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that while pending these writ petitions, the petitioners in WP.Nos.34528 and WP.Nos.34532 of 2014 died. Therefore, the prayer sought in those petitions has become abated.

In view of the above submissions, the writ petitions in WP.Nos.34528 and WP.Nos.34532 of 2014 are dismissed as abated. 5.

Insofar as the other writ petitions, considering the limited prayer sought for in those writ petitions, without going into merits of the case, the third respondent may be directed to consider the request made by the respective petitioners.

The learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents submitted that no representation has been made by the petitioners so far.

Considering the same, the petitioners are directed to make fresh representation and the third respondent is directed to consider the request made by the respective petitioners and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.

With the above direction, the writ petitions in WP.Nos.34526, 34527, 34529, 34530, 34531, 34533 & 34534 of 2014 are disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
