PRAYER This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking for a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to pay petitioner's pending payment of Rs.49,25,231/ (Rupees Forty Nine Lakhs Twenty Five thousand Two hundred and Thirty one) for serving food to Corona affected patient in Government Hospital Guindy, Chennai for the period of January 2021 and February 2021.

ORDER
This Writ Petition is filed to direct the respondents to pay petitioner's pending payment of Rs.49,25,231/ (Rupees Forty Nine Lakhs Twenty Five thousand Two hundred and Thirty one) for serving food to Corona affected patient in Governemnt Hospital Guindy, Chennai for the period of January 2021 and February 2021.
2.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner got an oral order dated 14.09.2020 from the designated officer, Dr.Ramakrishnan, Food safety and Drug Department, Chennai District to serve food to inpatients admitted in the Government Corona Hospital, Guindy in the Covid-19 pandemic period. Subsequently, on 25.03.2021, the Designated Officer Dr.Somasundaram gave an order for continuation of serving food vide order
dated 25.03.2021. Therefore, the petitioner had been serving food to the inpatients admitted in the Government Corona Hospital, Guindy from 14.09.2020 till 30.09.2021. The petitioner gave representation to the 5th respondent on 02.07.2021 for claiming the pending bill from 01.01.2021 to 30.06.2021. Thereafter, the respondents have paid the bill from March 2021 to September 2021, but till now the respondents have not paid the bill for the period from 01.01.2021 to 02.02.2021 to a tune of Rs.49,25,231/-. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
3.The learned Additional Advocate General appearing on behalf of the respondents would submit that for payment of the amount to the petitioner, G.O.(Ms) No.555, Revenue and Disaster Management [DM-II] Department, dated 19.08.2025 has been passed by the first respondent and sanctioned a amount of Rs.49,25,231/- to the petitioner and that the said amount will be paid to the petitioner, within a time frame as fixed by this Court. 4.In view of the submission made by the learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents, the respondents are now directed to pay the sum of Rs.49,25,231/- as per the G.O.(Ms) No.555, dated 19.08.2025, within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
