The learned Counsel for the respondents now produced an order passed by the Commissioner, Erode City Municipal Corporation, Erode, dated 20.10.2017.

2. Accordingly, Mr.K.Arumugam, the writ petitioner herein was allowed to retire from service on 31.10.2016 on attaining the age of superannuation. The very relief sought for in this writ petition is to direct the respondents to promote the petitioner as City Engineer. In view of the fact that the petitioner has already retired from service no further consideration needs to be undertaken in respect of the relief sought for in this writ petition.
