The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offence punishable under Section 7(3) of Lottery Regulation Act, 1998 in Crime No.314 of 2023 on the file of the respondent police, seek anticipatory bail.
2. The case of the prosecution is that, on 21.06.2023 at about 10.00 a.m., when the respondent police were on patrol duty near Anaikarachathiram Alangudi graveyard, they found two persons selling lottery illegally. They tried to apprehend them. One of them fled and other person was caught and from his statement, they came to know about the details of the person who absconded as Mariappan s/o Natarajan. From the person who they caught, they recovered banned lottery tickets 15 in number.
3. The petitioner herein is the said Mariappan, seeks anticipatory bail stating that he has no connection with the crime alleged and he has been wrongly implicated.

4. However, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) states that the petitioner has a bad antecedent. He has two cases of similar nature pending and he is an habitual offender involved in selling lottery.
5. Considering the rival submissions, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. Hence, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed.
