O R D E R

This criminal original petition has been filed seeking a direction to the Respondent police not to harass the petitioners based on the complaint given by one K.Dhanalakshmi in CSR No.444/2016 dated 12.08.2016 on the file of the respondent police.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent.

3. When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that on the complaint lodged by one Lakshmi, who is the wife of the petitioner, petition enquiry in CSR No.444 of 2016 is pending. It is alleged by Lakshmi that the dispute relates to collection of rent in respect of property in Puducherry.

4. Under such circumstances, the petitioner is directed to co-operate for the enquiry and during the course of enquiry, he shall not be harassed. However, if any cognizable offence is made out, this order would not be a shield against the arrest of the accused.

With the above observation, the Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
