ORDER

The relationship between the husband and wife is not in dispute. The fact that the wife does not have a regular source of income is also not in dispute.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that the wife is working as a coolie, and therefore, he is not duty-bound to pay the amount, which has been ordered by the Trial Court.

3. A perusal of the impugned order, in particular paragraph 7, would show that the court has fixed a paltry sum towards maintenance for the wife. The husband has been called upon to pay Rs.7,500/- per month as maintenance for the wife and a sum of Rs.500/- per month towards her litigation expenses. In matters of maintenance, the entire idea is that the weaker sex, namely the women, must not be pushed to penury, whereby the husband takes advantage of the situation and obtains a decree of divorce. Looking at the impugned order in the light of the discussion, I do not find anything wrong in the same.
