This Criminal Original Petition is filed to direct the respondent to investigate the case in Crime No.12 of 2017 on the file of the respondent-Police and to file a charge sheet within a stipulated time frame as fixed by this Court.

2. Learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent, on instructions, submitted that based on the complaint given by the petitioner, the respondent-Police registered a case in Crime No.12 of 2017 for the offences punishable under Sections 420, 406 and 120-B IPC and Section 5 of the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Act, 1997 against the accused. He further submitted that as the cause of action arises out of Chit Fund transactions and there are numerous depositors involved in the said transactions, the respondent-Police could not able to complete the investigation. However, the respondent-Police is ready to file the chargesheet as expeditiously as possible.

3. Since the cause of action arose in the year 2017, the respondent/Police is directed to expedite the investigation and file a final report/charge sheet within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. With the above directions, the Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
