ORDER
This writ petition has been filed for direction directing the respondents to apply the rule of special reservation for Persons Studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM) category for the post of BT Assistant in Science under MBC category without considering the candidate secured higher marks than the cutoff mark earmarked for MG category under Persons Studied in Tamil Medium and to proceed with selection for the vacancies from PSTM category and consequently, select and appoint the petitioner to the post of BT Assistant in Science under Persons Studied in Tamil Medium category.
2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.
3. The petitioner belongs to MBC category. He is qualified with B.Sc. Physics and also studied B.E. He is qualified to be appointed as B.T. Assistant in the Government Institution. He had applied for Teacher Eligibility Test examination. He had studied in Tamil medium and as such, he sought for appointment to the post of B.T. Assistant under Tamil medium quota. He had scored 85 marks in the Teacher Eligibility Test and he is eligible to be appointed as B.T. Assistant. On receipt of the call letter, he had attended the certificate verification and produced all the original certificates. However, he was not considered under the Tamil medium quota.

A perusal of the counter filed by the first respondent revealed that the last candidate who got selected under MBC (G)(T) category had secured 64.53 marks after adding due weightage marks pursuant to G.O.Ms.No.71 (SE) Department dated 30.05.2014 for Tamil medium quota. However, the petitioner had secured 62.94 marks after adding due weightage marks for Tamil medium quota. Therefore, the petitioner was not selected.
5. In view of the above, this writ petition is devoid of merits and is liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous petition is closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
