ORDER

This Writ Petition is filed seeking for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to provide adequate protection and ensure that the temple car festival and other religious ceremonies and customary events to be conducted peacefully in Arulmigu Sri Mthumariyamman Thirukovil situated at Poosapadi Village, Chinnasalem Taluk, Kallakurichi District based on the petitioner's representation dated 14.05.2026 and 18.05.2026.

2. In view of the order that this Court proposes to pass and also the limited relief that is sought to be granted, notice to the respondents 7 to 11 is dispensed with.

3. At the outset, it is submitted by the learned counsel for petitioner that the Writ Petition came to be filed with a view to ensure that the temple car festival, which was originally fixed on 25.05.2026 is conducted without any impediment.

4. Learned Government Counsel appearing for respondents 1 to 3 would submit that the date fixed is over and he would submit that in any event, the representations of petitioner would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed after issuing notice to petitioner, respondents 7 to 11 and any other

interested parties, within a time period to be stipulated by this Court. Agreed to by the learned counsel for petitioner.

5. In view of the same, taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case, there shall be a direction to the respondents to consider the representations dated 14.05.2026 and 18.05.2026 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, after issuing notice and after affording reasonable opportunity of hearing to petitioner, respondents 7 to 11 and any other interested persons within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of uploading of web copy without waiting for receipt of certified copy of the order. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any views with regard to the merits of the case and it is open to the concerned respondent to consider the case on its own merits and in accordance with law.

6. Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. 02-06-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order ANU
